These images were captured from the window of an airplane during sunset (somewhere over the Arctic Circle). Using long exposure and physical gestures, a glowing sliver of daylight is transfigured into a sequence of fluid forms. Individually, these images are ephemeral and gossamer, but when viewed as a grid, a kind of celestial symbology appears. The viewer may interpret this sequence as a “cosmic alphabet”, calling attention to humankind’s tendency to attach visual significance to the randomness and chaos of our natural world.
